Here we are a year later and the Triple Crown drought continues. The eclipse awards are Monday and there has been no dominant standout, no Rachael Alexandra or Zenyatta. Havre De Grace is obviously the default winner. I thought Shackleford was a lock in the Breeder's Cup Mile. Who the hell had Court Vision at 66-1?
The preps have started and I like Hansen in the Holy Bull. Normally I am quick to dismiss the Breeder's Cup Juvy winners (remember Uncle Mo?) but I like Hansen a lot and he has the breeding for the classic distances with 2 decisive and impressive wins as a 2 year old. We have a long way to go;113 days to be exact. You have to get in the gate to win the Derby. So our journey to Central Avenue begins.......
